Hotel pick up in Cusco (exact time confirmed the day before).
Your journey begins with private hotel pick up in Cusco between 4:00 am and 4:15 am (previous coordination required). You will travel by private tourist transport to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m), a journey of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. At the Ollantaytambo train station, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes (2,040 m), also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The train ride lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, offering scenic views of the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba River.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes (around 8:00 am to 8:30 am), your private guide will meet you for direct assistance. After optional breakfast (not included), you will take the shuttle bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
The guided tour follows the traditional circuit and lasts approximately 2 hours. With your private guide, you will explore the most important sectors of the citadel, including: The Lower Terraces (panoramic photo point) Temple of the Sun viewpoint Eastern Storehouses (Qolqas) Sacred Rock Water Mirrors Complex Your guide will provide detailed explanations about Inca architecture, urban planning, astronomy, and spiritual symbolism. After the guided visit, you may hike Huayna Picchu or Huchuy Picchu if you have secured the corresponding tickets in advance. These permits must be reserved at least 6 months prior to your travel date and are subject to availability.
To conclude the tour, you will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes. Depending on your train schedule, you may have time for lunch (not included). Later, you will board the return train to Ollantaytambo, where your private transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco. Drop off is near your hotel or the historic center in the evening.
