At 6:30 a.m. we start the tour with the early pickup to head to the archaeological center of Chinchero, a place full of history and tradition. Here we will tour its Inca agricultural platforms and visit a local family of the community, who will welcome us to share first-hand their ancestral techniques of Andean textiles, a cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation that keeps alive.
We continue to Moray, an impressive archaeological complex known for its concentric circular platforms, considered an Inca agricultural laboratory. In this place, the Incas experimented with different microclimates and temperature levels, using the depth of the terraces to adapt and improve the cultivation of various Andean products such as potatoes, maize and quinoa. Moray stands out not only for its advanced agricultural engineering, but also for its spectacular design and its importance in the development of Inca agriculture.
We will explore the spectacular Salineras de Maras, a unique landscape formed by thousands of pools of white salt that shine brightly in the sun and create one of the most emblematic postcards of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. These salt mills have pre-Inca origins and, to this day, continue to be exploited by local families, who maintain this ancestral method of extracting salt transmitted from generation to generation.
Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with typical Peruvian dishes prepared with fresh local produce.
In the afternoon, we will visit the imposing fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the most important and well-preserved archaeological complexes of the Inca period. This site was an important military, religious and administrative center, strategically located to protect the Sacred Valley. During the visit, we will tour its terraces, temples and squares, and enjoy panoramic views of the valley, while the guide shares the history and cultural significance of this iconic place.
Finally, we will visit Pisac, a prominent administrative, ceremonial and agricultural center of the Inca Empire. This archaeological complex is recognized as one of the largest and most important Inca cities, and is characterized by its strategic location high in the valley, from where you get breathtaking panoramic views. During the visit, we will tour its platforms, temples, ceremonial compounds and urban areas, as the guide explains its historical, architectural and spiritual importance within the Andean world.
