The Shirley-Eustis House is the only Royal Governor's residence still standing in Massachusetts, and one of the only in New England. Its story includes the enslavement of Africans in the Shirley household, use as a Revolutionary War hospital during the Siege of Boston, Federal Era governor's residence, and subdivision into tenement apartments for Irish immigrants in the Victorian period. Tours include a complete tour through the Mansion, taking you through time as you wander.
Tours start at the base of the front stone staircase. The guide will greet guests as they arrive.
Our expert staff member will meet you at the base of the front staircase outside to begin your tour. The tour goes through each room in the Shirley Mansion, chronicling the nearly 300 year tapestry of history from its construction to the present day.
