Under the guidance of skilled weavers from the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales de Cusco, you’ll learn to dye wool using natural pigments and create your own piece of art, all while gaining insight into the symbolic meanings behind the intricate designs. The guide will pick you up directly at your hotel. Please wait in the lobby at the time indicated in your reservation. The guide will be wearing a full uniform and will contact you via WhatsApp a few minutes before pickup to make it easier to find each other.
The tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco (8:00–8:30 a.m.) followed by a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley to Chinchero. Along the way, there is a stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Huaypo and Piuray lagoons. In Chinchero, visitors arrive at a community textile center, where they receive a traditional welcome and watch a demonstration of the Andean textile process, including spinning, natural dyeing, and weaving. Guests can also participate in basic weaving techniques with local artisans and visit the community craft market. An optional traditional lunch is available before returning to Cusco in the evening, ending the cultural experience.
