This Waqrapukara full-day tour begins with an early hotel pickup in Cusco (4:30–5:00 a.m.) and a scenic drive through traditional Andean towns such as Acomayo, Pomacanchi, and Tinta, followed by a local breakfast near the Pomacanchi Lagoon; from there, you continue to Wayquecha (3,700 m.a.s.l.) to start a moderate 2.5–3 hour trek (7–8 km) through breathtaking highland landscapes, including unique rock formations, grazing llamas, and panoramic views of the Apurímac Canyon, until reaching the impressive Inca site of Waqrapukara, a mysterious “horn-shaped fortress” featuring terraces, ceremonial structures, and natural viewpoints; after a guided exploration, free time, and an Andean lunch, you hike back and return to Cusco around 6:00 p.m.; this destination is highly recommended for travelers seeking an authentic and less crowded experience, as it combines adventure, history, and spirituality in a remote setting, offering a deeper connection with nature and stunning photo opportunities.
