Travel privately from Salzburg to Hallstatt with your funicular, Skywalk and Salt Mine tickets included. After pickup at your Salzburg hotel at 9:00am, enjoy the 1.5-hour drive through the Salzkammergut lakes. We reach the Salzbergbahn valley station about 45 minutes before your reserved mine tour: ride the funicular up, take in the panorama from the World Heritage Skywalk, then walk 20 minutes through the Salzberg high valley to the Knappenhaus, where the official Salzwelten guides take you underground in miners' clothing through historic tunnels, down the miners' slides and past the underground salt lake. Afterwards enjoy free time in Hallstatt's lakeside village before the scenic drive back to Salzburg, with drop-off at your hotel around 5:30pm. Your private driver-guide shares local tips and recommendations, and you explore each stop at your own pace. Recorded audio commentary is available in the vehicle in nine languages.
Your guide will meet you at the entrance of your Salzburg hotel or accommodation at the selected start time. Please wait in the lobby and keep your phone available.

We arrive at the valley station of the Salzbergbahn about 45 minutes before your reserved Salt Mine tour, so there is no rush. Ride the funicular up to the mountain station high above Hallstatt and its lake. Funicular tickets (round trip) are included.
A short walk from the mountain station brings you to the World Heritage Skywalk, a viewing platform 360 metres above the rooftops of Hallstatt. Take in the panorama over the village, the Hallstätter See and the Dachstein Alps, the best photo spot of the day. Skywalk access is included.
From the mountain station a gentle 20-minute walk uphill through the Salzberg high valley leads to the Knappenhaus, the entrance of the world's oldest salt mine, where we arrive 15 minutes before your reserved tour time. In miners' overalls, the official Salzwelten guide takes you underground: two long wooden miners' slides, the underground salt lake, the Bronze Age galleries and the story of the 'Man in Salt'. The guided tour lasts about 70 minutes; admission and the fixed-time reservation are included. Please note: children under 4 cannot enter the mine, it is about 8 degrees C underground (bring a warm layer and closed shoes) and the tour is not wheelchair accessible.
Ride the funicular back down and enjoy free time in the UNESCO-listed lakeside village: stroll the Market Square with its pastel houses, walk the lakeside promenade to the classic postcard viewpoint, visit the parish church and the Bone House (optional, small fee), browse the shops or have lunch at a lakeside restaurant. Your driver-guide shares tips on where to go and is reachable by phone throughout.
Drop-off in Salzburg: after the relaxed 1.5-hour return drive along the Salzkammergut lakes, your driver brings you back to the door of your Salzburg hotel or accommodation, usually around 5:30pm. Prefer to be dropped in the Old Town or at the station instead? Just tell your driver.
