    Pick up from your hotel in Cusco at 4.00 am and drive to the Ollantaytambo train station, from where you will board the train to Km 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail 2 days. On the train, you'll see some truly breathtaking sights of the stunning scenery in the Sacred Valley. When you arrive at Km 104, you'll check before you start your hiking adventure. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to see a variety of plant and animal life. Your first stop on the Inca tour will be Chachabamba, a quaint archaeological site close to the Urubamba River. After 4 hours of hike, you'll encounter a steep ascent toward Wiñaywayna. This is one of the most remarkable Inca sites in the region, known for its breathtaking terraces. During your visit, you'll be taken on a guided tour where you'll have the opportunity to learn about the historical and cultural importance of the site. Afterward, you can savor a delicious packed lunch.

    Machu Picchu

    After lunch in Wiñaywayna, you'll embark on the last part of your hike for the day, which leads you to the Sun Gate, also known as 'Inti Punku'. As you reach this spot, you'll be able to witness the stunning sight of Machu Picchu in the distance, which is sure to leave a lasting impression on your mind. Once you pass through the Sun Gate, you'll continue on your journey towards the citadel of Machu Picchu. To get to the town of Aguas Calientes, you can take a bus that will take you down to the base of the mountain. There are plenty of things to do when you're in Aguas Calientes. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant, and you will stay overnight at a nearby hotel to ensure you are well-rested for the exciting day.

    Day 2: Explore Machu Picchu (Lost City of the Incas) — Return to Cusco

    After an early breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes, you'll take a short bus ride up to Machu Picchu, often referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas." The goal is to reach the site before sunrise so you can enjoy the enchanting view of the sun rising over the magnificent ruins. Your guide will give you a comprehensive tour of the archaeological site, illuminating the rich history of the impressive structures. The tour will typically cover the city’s main areas, such as the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore Machu Picchu independently.     Ollantaytambo

    Once you've fully taken in the wonder of Machu Picchu, you'll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. Later in the afternoon, you will board the panoramic Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo and a private van back to Cusco. Once back in Cusco, you will be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your short but unforgettable Inca Trail to Machu Picchu tour.
