Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley This tour is one of the most famous attractions in Cusco and the 2nd more visited one after Machu Picchu. This tour gives you the exciting experience on climbing a mountain over 16,000ft, where you will be able to see colourful landscapes, majestic glaciers, amazing and vibrant green valleys with herds of alpaca, the impressive Ausangate mountain range. Also you will experience first-hand how locals live in the mountains and even see them hard at work.

Red Valley: Highly recommended to visit while you are doing the Rainbow Mountain tour, this is an extension and takes 30 minutes more (one way down ). The red valley has an amazing view and it feels like you are in other planet!

What to expect

We take the path less traveled to Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley are amazing and can be seen on the Majestic Ausangate. This is a challenging day of hiking. Spend some time in Cusco to acclimate (we recommend 3 days in Cusco or similar elevation). The hike takes place over 5000m (16,000ft) and is about 10 kilometers Aprox of length, with an elevation of 485m (2,250ft). The main reason this trek is difficult is because of the elevation. The terrain is a gradual climb and you are walking in a wide Red valley for the majority of the trek.
