This is the most famous route if you want to visit Machu Picchu. Those 2 days include the most important places of the inca culture in Cusco city. If you have few days in Cusco, and if you need a not to heavy tour, this is the option for you!!
The first day you will visit the sacred valley of the incas with the visit to Pisac archaeological site, Pisac Maket and Ollantaytambo archaeological site are the most important places of this route.
The second day you will visit Machu Picchu, you dont need to wake up very early because this tour you will start in Machu Picchu town, the diference if you start in Cusco you need almost 4 hours to travel direct from Cusco to Machu Picchu town, so that means that you will enjoy the Machu Picchu tour bether with this option.
You need to provide us the address of your acomodation at least 3 days in advance of the day of the tour.
At 08:00 Hrs. approx. We’ll pick up you from your hotel in Cusco to start the tour to the Sacred Valley, first we will visit the Archaeological site of Pisac, before to arrive to Pisac, we will make some stops to visit attractions such as viewpoints of the Vilcanota River and the valley, once you arrive to Pisac city, you’ll visit the Inca citadel of Pisac located at the top of the mountain to appreciate the inkas neighborhoods, the cemetery, terraces and functions, Pisac is one of the most beautiful monumental centers because it combines the landscape with the impeccable techniques of its constructions.
Then you´ll descend by bus to the typical market of Pisac, where you’ll see the most famous cusqueñan handicrafts made by Andean hands, including protruding textile pieces, ponchos, bags, etc., and ceramic handicrafts as jewelry, which are reproductions of inca archaeology pieces, such as queros (ceremonial vessels), necklaces, etc.
Afterwards you’ll go to the City of Urubamba, traveling in the same direction of the Vilcanota River, once there you can enjoy a buffet lunch in a touristic restaraurant with different kind of food and try Peruvian cuisine and more. (vegetarian option available)
In the afternoon you’ll visit the fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo, which is named in honor of General Inca Ollanta, famous for courting an Inca princess, daughter of Pachacutec. It is the only city in the Inca Empire in Peru which is still inhabited, Ollantaytambo would have been a Tambo or city-bed and a fortress built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of forest people. Later you will board the train that will take you to the town of Aguas Calientes (train trip of 2 hours). Once you arrive to Aguas Calientes, you will go to the hotel. Overnight at selected hotel in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town).
This day early in the morning you will go to the bus station to take the bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Once there you have the guided tour in Machu Picchu for about more than two hours, visiting the main venues of the citadel with our tour guide, places like the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, cemeteries and more. At appropriate time you descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes where you have free time, to have lunch in one of the many restaurants and optionally visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo (2 hours trip), where our staff will be waiting to take you to Cusco city (trip by car of 1.5 hours).
