    Arrival in Cusco - Inka Museum and Koricancha

    Upon arrival at Cusco Airport, a shuttle will transfer you to your hotel, allowing you time to rest and acclimate to the altitude of 3,400 meters (11,000 feet). Take the morning to relax and adjust, easing into the Andean environment. In the afternoon, we’ll delve into the rich history of the Andes with a visit to the Inka Museum, a treasure trove that spans thousands of years of Andean culture, from ancient artifacts to Inca relics. Our journey continues to Koricancha, the legendary Sun Temple of Qosqo, which stands as a testament to the pinnacle of Inca organization, architectural mastery, and spiritual devotion. Once covered in gold, Koricancha was considered the “Navel of the World,” reflecting the center of Inca cosmology. After immersing yourself in the mysteries of the past, return to your hotel to unwind and prepare for the adventures ahead.

    Saqsayhuaman - Temple of the Moon - Ollantaytambo

    We begin the day at Sacsayhuamán (3,700 masl / 12,139 ft.), one of the most impressive Inca structures. Its colossal stone walls, precisely fitted without mortar, showcase Inca engineering mastery. From this vantage point, enjoy panoramic views of Cusco while learning about its ceremonial and military importance. Next, we visit the Temple of the Moon, a mystical sanctuary carved into natural rock, believed to be a site for rituals honoring the Moon Goddess. Its altars and underground chambers reflect the Incas’ deep spiritual beliefs. Past midday, we travel to Ollantaytambo (2,792 masl / 9,160 ft.), a living Inca town with original streets, water canals, and an imposing fortress. Later, from Ollantaytambo train station, we board the train to Aguas Calientes (2,040 masl / 6,692 ft.), preparing for Machu Picchu.

    The day begins early with breakfast before boarding one of the morning buses to Machu Picchu (2,430 meters or 7,972 feet). Upon entering the Inca citadel, your guide will lead you on an in-depth tour, sharing the captivating history of this iconic site and explaining its most remarkable features, such as temples, ceremonial areas, terraces, and storage structures. If you’ve secured an additional ticket in advance, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore either Huayna Picchu (2,720 meters or 8,924 feet) or Machu Picchu Mountain (3,082 meters or 10,111 feet) for a breathtaking perspective of the surroundings. After the guided tour, the group will return to Aguas Calientes for a well-deserved rest and lunch at one of the town's cozy restaurants.
