The ancient town of Chinchero is one of the most beautiful in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. A wonderful place where you can still feel and see the Inca culture as it was in times past. It has an incomparable square built on what was once an Inca palace, with a typical Sunday fair where ancient marketing practices are still carried out and where you can see people in the typical clothing of their ancestors.
It is an impressive salt mining complex, which was already exploited since the Inca Empire as a means of economic exchange and value. From Maras you can visit the salt mines along a horseshoe path, where it is common to find pack animals carrying sacks of salt extracted from the natural salt mines.
The site is made up of agricultural terraces or platforms built in gigantic natural depressions or holes. These terraces are superimposed concentrically, taking the form of a gigantic amphitheater.
Ollantaytambo was one of the towns that came under Inca rule. The city served as an important checkpoint. According to Inca law, these lands were reserved for the Inca dynasty of rulers. In this place you will also find the train station that will take you to Aguas Calientes, the town of Machu Picchu.
We will take a 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we will show our tickets and passports and start our guided visit according to the circuit and ticket. The visit is one way only. After the tour, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to have our lunch (the order might change according to the entrance schedule). Finally, you will take the train and bus back to Cusco, concluding your journey.
