The room was freshly renovated and we LOVED it. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom beautifully decorated. The garden was quiet and offered a beautiful view of the city. The staff was very welcoming. It was a great week!
The room was getting very (very!) cold in the evening. We also think the hotel could offer better food options for both breakfast and dinner.
A grue hacienda .amazing spaces . Amazing architecture . Sparkling clean rooms. Super polite stuff. Very central
It was an amazing hotel.with great anesthetics and the true atmosphere of a hacienda. Sparkling clean very polite stuff!
Juanita, Marlen, and Neli are three rays of sunshine who made every morning at El Balcón feel special. Their breakfasts are cooked with so much love and so much sazón that I decided to spend my last night in Cusco having dinner at the restaurant too. Best decision ever.
They served me the most colorful, delicious hummus and veggies platter, followed by grilled alpaca over creamy potato purée that I’m still thinking about. But more than the food, it’s their energy that stays with you. I can’t wait to come back just to share another meal—and soak up their warmth all over again. ❤️✨
Gorgeous stay! rooms and bed are huge! garden is just gorgeous, hosts are so so lovely and helpful and breakfast was amazing (chefs cook you eggs, omelete etc). very happy with our stay. we booked the garden room and could hardly hear the street at all (which was great as a lot of accomodation in cusco we found to be very impacted by road noise)
Very friendly staff , great breakfast and perfect location.
It has a lovely garden and the rooms have newly renovated bathrooms. The breakfast chef is also very lovely.
Before our arrival getting in touch with the property was impossible. I had emailed, messaged thru booking and whatsapped and only heard back 2 days before our arrival. Carrying your bags up and down from the second floor rooms was tough.
I had booked 3 reservations with this hotel back in June 2025, all for April 2026. Over the past few weeks I sent them 3 separate emails, two messages through their website and a WhatsApp asking them to please confirm my reservations. I could see on their website that they had allegedly been “closed for renovations” for about the past 5 months but it said they were planning to re-open April 1. I never received a reply to any of those 6 requests. Finally because I was out of options, I asked my local tour provider to call them to help me confirm. The tour operator emailed back saying they had spoken to someone at El Balcon who said that they “were not operating”!
To say I as flabbergasted is an understatement. El Balcon cared so little about me as a customer that there were going to allow me to show up on their front door on the night of April 12 and tell me that they were not open!!! (Assuming someone would have even BEEN there to say that). This is just beyond unethical. I ended having to make last minute reservations at another Cusco hotel that will end up costing me $2000 more!
Whether or not they re-open in April of not, I strongly encourage anyone thinking about booking here to not do so! You may end up being left high and dry like I would have been had I not asked my tour provider to call them.
Shame on you, El Balcon!
Sehr schöne Lage und Ausstattung! Gemütlich, ruhige Lage, schöne Plätze zum Verweilen und sehr gutes Frühstück! Die Zimmer waren top ausgestattet und sehr sauber.
Amazing views of Cusco. Lovely location. Beautiful historic property and nice characterful rooms. Delicious breakfast and super attentive helpful staff!
It has character. All the chain hotels look the same, very sterile and antiseptic. This hotel has a personality that I really enjoyed. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and a special thanks to the restaurant staff who, despite my terrible Spanish, were able to make sense of my special requests and provided me with excellent meals.
A little more room at the curb outside would be nice, but this cannot be helped. Inside was lovely.
Location was close to all. Vibe is perfect for Cusco. So cozy. Small and authentic. Incan walls. Beds are cozy.
Breakfast was delicious. Staff was helpful.
Rooms are small and double beds only, not queens.
The room itself was gorgeous! And tastefully decorated. The one they put me in had a view of Cusco & the mountains. The property itself feels like a hidden gem. The bed was comfortable. They offered robes, filtered water in the room and coco tea in the dining room. Also a heater as it got cold at night.
When I went to shower before bed THERE WAS NO HOT WATER. It was lukewarm at best. After a long day of travel and exploring the only thing I wanted was a hot shower and to tuck into bed. I called down to the front desk, but the lady from the daytime wasn't there, only a man who didn't speak any english. I was able to communicate the issue in my limited spanish and he came up to the room to take a look. It was hard to understand what he was telling me to do, but I guess he reset the heater and told me to wait 15mins then try again. I did that, at which point the water was hotter but not hot. I was able to shower quickly, but it wasn't pleasant. And I was tired from waiting. This is why I took points off. Hot water is a necessity. Especially when it's cold out. Also, something I ate at breakfast didn't agree with me. I used the filtered water to brush my teeth and hadn't eaten anything else that day when the problems started. I don't know if they use filtered or regular water in the coffee or juices they serve? I had both. Or maybe they don't wash their fruits/vegetables with filtered water and that's what did it. But just to watch out for.
Great location with very helpful staff. Very good breakfast as well. Highly recommended!
Book the cheaper rooms. They have darker curtains and you will hear less street noises. Suite was great but more noisy and you wake up earlier due to the white curtains.
