Weather Alerts

yellow warning - snow squall - in effect

Apr 8, 10:42 AM - Apr 8, 04:40 PM
Severity: Moderate Urgency: Future

Brief, intense snowfall is expected. Visibility will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow. As of 5:40 am radar indicates a line of very heavy snowfall approaching Winnipeg from the west. This line will sweep across the Red River Valley during the early morning hours. Although the snow will be relatively brief, very heavy snowfall rates - as much as 5 cm in one hour - can be expected, with near-zero visibility expected at times. The line of heavy snow should move out of the Red River Valley later this morning. ### Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic. Snow squall warnings are issued when localized, intense snowfall causing near zero visibility is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to MBstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #MBStorm.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel and outdoor activities until conditions improve.
