Bridge of Art - The most important information
Most of the Arts is a pedestrian bridge over the Vardar River in the center of Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. It is located between the Freedom Bridge and the Oko Bridge, i.e., the Civilization Bridge as it is called otherwise. There are statues of famous Macedonian artists and musicians on the bridge.
History of the Bridge of Art
The Art Bridge in Skopje was built as part of the larger Skopje project in 2014. The estimated construction costs were 2.5 million euros. There are 29 sculptures on the bridge, 14 on each side and one in the middle. It is 83 meters long and 9.2 meters wide, while the central part of the bridge is 12 meters wide. On the bridge is a statue of the famous Macedonian singer Tošet Proeski, who tragically died in a traffic accident.
How to get to the Bridge of Art?
You will find the Bridge of Art very quickly, given that it is located in the center of Skopje.
- On foot: When you head from Makedonija Square, i.e., Ploštada, towards Ceri Vradar, it only takes a few minutes of easy walking to reach the Bridge of Art. More precisely, the exit from the town square leads you to the Stone Bridge; below it is the Oko Bridge, and after it comes to the Bridge of Art.
- By car: If you plan to come by car, close to Porta Makedonija, there is the largest closed garage in Skopje, and you can leave your car there. From there, it is also a few minutes walk to the bridge. Otherwise, the price of parking in this garage is 30 denars for the first hour, while each subsequent hour is 20 denars.
