Ristic Palace - The most important information

Ristić Palace is a monumental symbolic building on Skopje Makedonija Square (Ploštad). The palace is located on the Vardar River's southern side and Macedonia Square's southern part. It was built in 1926, according to the project of the architect Dragutin Maslać.

The History of the Ristic Palace
The Ristić Palace was built by the Serbian pharmacist Vladislav Ristić in 1926. There was a commercial space on the ground floor, while the Ristics lived on the other floors. Credit for the architectural design of the building goes to Dragutin Maslać, while Dragutin Stanković is credited for the sculptural aspect of the building.

The palace is one of the few large buildings that survived the earthquake in Skopje on July 26, 1963, when almost 70% of the buildings in the city were destroyed. When the building was built, the designers and architects were aware of the seismic conditions in the area, so appropriate measures were taken, and the building was built to all modern standards at the time, unlike most other buildings that collapsed. The palace also had the honor of installing the first elevator in Skopje during construction, which is still used today. Today, Ristic Palace is a complex of business premises.

How to get to Ristic Palace?
Ristic's palace is located on the city square itself, Ploštad. If you come by car, we recommend parking in a closed garage near Porta Makedonija. From there, you only need a few minutes to reach the palace. The price of parking in the garage is 30 denars for the first hour, while each subsequent hour is 20 denars.

Additional information about Ristic Palace
When the people of Skopje asked him: Mr. Ristic, why are you building such a miracle, such a palace in the middle of Skopje? His partly joking answer was: I am building a monument to myself!
