City squares Niksic - The most important information
Niksic is a city known for the magical nature that surrounds it. However, Niksic keeps the two most valuable pearls of culture in its center - Sloboda Square and Saka Petrovica Square. These two cultural centers provide a large number of natural and cultural attractions in a small area.
Sloboda Square
- History of Sloboda Square: The square paved with Niksic stone was ceremoniously opened on Statehood Day, July 13, 2018.
- Design of Sloboda Square: In the central part of the square there is a fountain, four old and reconstructed fountains, and spaces provided for catering activities on the corners. This area is adorned with monuments to King Nikola and Cedimir Ljubo Cupic. The monument to King Nikola was erected in 2006, and the monument consists of a figure on a horse.
- How to get to Sloboda Square: You can reach Sloboda Square via Njegoseva Street from the City Park.
Sako Petrovic Square
- Significance of Sako Petrovic Square: Saka Petrovica Square is a large cultural center in a not so large area. The park houses the Cathedral of St. Vasilija Ostroskog, which was built around 1900 thanks to King Nikola, the Castle of King Nikola from 1900, the Lapidarium and the City Park.
- How to get to Sako Petrovi Square: You can reach Saka Petrovica Square on Vucedolski Street, next to the City Park, moving towards the Cathedral of St. Vasilija Ostroskog and the City Chapel.
