Radul-bey residence is located in Zajecar and is a cultural monument of Serbia. Unfortunately, there needs to be more specific and accurate information about this monument regarding the creation and founder of this endowment.

The history of Radul Bey's residence

Radul-beg's inn was mentioned for the first time in the report of the Austrian officer Pokorni in 1784. According to legend, it belonged to an unknown Turkish bey.
  • After the liberation from the Turks, the inn belonged to the wealthiest Zajecar merchant: After the release of Timocka Krajina, the residence fell into the hands of the richest merchant at the time, Radul Gligorijevic, after whom this residence gets its name. After some time, the residence is placed under the jurisdiction of the state.
  • The last owners were the descendants of Radul Gligorijevic: The previous owners of the inn were Milenko and Milenija Radulovic, his descendants. Milenko donated his part to the municipality of Zajecar, while Milenia received specific compensation for her half. After the eviction, this building became part of the National Museum in Zajecar.

The inn has been renovated several times in recent history, and a gallery on the ground floor often hosts various domestic art programs. In addition, the inn often holds literary evenings, performances, exhibitions, and many other cultural events.
How to get to Radul Bey residence?
Radul-bey residence is close to the National Museum in Zajecar and is also an integral part of it. It is possible to reach it by car.
  • By car: From the direction of Kraljevica, it is best to follow route E761, which will bring you right in front of Konak. If you are coming from the direction of Lubnicko Brdo, follow Lubnicki road, and then Nikola Pasic Street, which will lead you to Konak.
