History of the National Theater Leskovac
The beginning of the creation of the National Theater in Leskovac dates back to 1896 when our great writer and then a teacher of the Gymnasium Radoje Domanovic formed a group called Civic Theater Jug Bogdan. However, the theater company was short-lived - it ceased to exist after Domanović left Leskovac.
- In 1926, a professional theater named Leskovac City Theater was founded in Leskovac: This was when the National Theater finally got its actual value, and the first performance of Death of Jugovic's Mother took place in the same year. After the Leskovac City Theater, the Academic Theater was established.
- The Drama Section was founded in 1944: After the liberation of Leskovac, the Drama Section was established, which later grew into the National Theatre. Since 1970, the theater has been the only one in Yugoslavia that does not have a box office.

- By car: If you are coming from the direction of Hisar Hill and Devet Jugovica Park, it would be best to follow Norveska Street, which will lead you to Milos Obilic Street. After that, follow Kosta Stamenkovica Street, which leads to the theater itself. If you are moving from the direction of Bulevar Nikola Pasic, follow 28. Marta Street, turn off onto Mlinska Street to quickly reach your destination.
