Leskovac National Museum - Most important information
The Leskovac National Museum is located in the central part of the city and was founded in 1948. Today, this museum in Leskovac is full of objects and important antiquities, and in 2015 it was declared the best museum in the territory of Serbia. The Museum Society of Serbia gave this award.
History of the National Museum in Leskovac
The collection of objects for the museum's needs began even before the museum was opened, at the beginning of the 20th century. Various societies and schools were engaged in collecting antiques and famous objects, and for the needs of the museum, Caricin grad, Skobaljic grad, and Hisar were also visited.
- The idea to establish a museum in Leskovac arose after the Second World War: Since many collections kept for the museum were destroyed, the idea arose of confirming an institution where all objects would be stored safely. This is why the National Museum in Leskovac was opened on May 2, 1948.
- The permanent exhibition of the National Museum was opened in 1974: This exhibition includes items from prehistoric times and shows the life of the inhabitants of Leskovac from the Neolithic era. In addition, life in the period of the Turkish age is shown, as well as the reign of the famous Nemanjić dynasty.

- One of the most interesting is the Caricin grad Collection: The basis of this collection is a variety of objects made of metal, baked earth, and bones during decades of research and excavations on this land. Today, the collection of Caricin grad contains 1,967 items, which is why it is one of the most interesting.

- By car: If you are coming from the direction of Hisar hill, follow Zrtava Fasizma Street, then turn off onto Radanska Street. After that, Svetozara Markovica Street will bring you to the front of the Museum. If you are moving from the city's outskirts, from the direction of Velika Beljanica, route 437 will bring you to the Museum after a 15-minute drive.
