In the center of Sokobanja, there is a well-known resting area - the central park. This place is generally known as a spacious promenade and resort to which almost all roads of Sokobanja lead. The spa park is, therefore, always full of people. It is enjoyed by both the locals and the visitors who, upon arrival in Sokobanja, first encounter this landmark.

History of central park
It is believed that the construction of the park began around 1880, but it is difficult to determine how many stages it went through. The park, like its plants, is constantly growing, developing, and improving with new content, so its appearance changes over the years. Each stage of upgrading the park brought something innovative to this area, so today it represents a composition of plants, monuments, and accompanying buildings.

The most beautiful places in the central park
Central park is characterized by long flower beds and various trees that purify this area. Walking trails follow wooden benches, pavilions, and cultural monuments, and some parts of the park have shown up as unique attractions themselves. Be sure to visit:
  • Large fountain - located in the northern sector of the plateau. Surrounded by flowers, with a fountain and lighting, this fountain attracts visitors especially in the evening when you can observe its magical play of light and water.
  • Playground Sokolici - a corner for children located in the western part of the park. Here, the young ones like to play on various devices and props. Near the park, there is a playroom and an amusement park, so children usually spend the whole day in the very center of Sokobanja.
  • Turkish bath Amam - a famous bath with two healing springs located on the edge of the park. The properties of these waters help in the treatment of various types of rheumatism, and the vapors in the bath inhaler room are good for treating respiratory diseases.
  • Vrelski Potok - which flows out of the Turkish bath Amam and flows through the city park. This stream meets other underground springs which characterize the entire area of ​​Sokobanja.
How to get to central park
As this park is located in the center of Sokobanja, you can reach it in several ways.
  • By car: the main road of Miladina Zivanovića Street leads to it, and from the south, it can be approached by Sveti Sava Street.
