Bridge Most ljubavi - the most important information

A bridge in the heart of Vrnjacki Park has become an unexpected symbol of eternal love. Today, it is easy to find it among other bridges in the park because it stands out with thousands of locked padlocks. These padlocks are being locked on his fence by couples in order to keep their love from parting forever.

History of the bridge
At the meeting place of the favorite couple from Vrnjacka Banja, teacher Nada and officer Relja, a love story symbolically began. However, with the beginning of the First World War, a different life began. The war had sent Relja to Greece, where he met a new love, because of which he broke off his engagement to Nada. According to the locals, Nada died of grief at a very young age, and many still remember the tragic way she left.

Those who witnessed this love, however, wanted to remember this place where the two met. Crossing this bridge, the girls started locking padlocks on its fence with their names and the names of their loved ones. In order not to meet the same fate as Nada, they would throw the keys into the river. The padlock thus became a symbol that protects lovers, and Nada's and Relja's bridge got named Most ljubavi (the Bridge of Love).

The significance of the bridge
The bridge Most ljubavi is most famous for the customs and events associated with it.
  • The custom of locking padlocks - this has been practiced for a long time. On the bridge, you can always see couples, and you can stop by yourself and write down the name of someone you love.
  • Inspiration for many - the fate of these two lovers, unrequited love, and a tragic end inspired both the locals and the visitors of Vrnjacka Banja. Among them is our poet Desanka Maksimovic, who weaved this story into the verses of the poem Molitva za ljubav (Prayer for Love).
Decorated with padlocks, but above all decorated with love, this bridge paved the way for events that you should definitely visit:
  • Poljubi me (Kiss Me)
  • Love Fest
The bridge of love in many ways preserves a story that is remembered only for those most beautiful moments, because of which those who do not want to part always stop by.
