Manastir Svete Petke – the most important information
Manastir Svete Petke, the monastery also known as Stubal, was built relatively recently, in the period from 1970 to 1978. It is located in the Raska district near Kraljevo and belongs to the Zica eparchy.
It was built in a place where a monastery or similar religious building already existed in the past. Although there was not much material left from the old monastery, there was still faith that this place is sacred. People of Stubal, led by Stojan Komatovic, decided to build here a new monastery.
History of monastery Stubal
After the construction of this holy temple, the people of Stubal wanted to dedicate it to Good Friday. On that day, even before the construction of the monastery, they gathered at this holy place. As Good Friday is the day of Christ's suffering, celebrating this day was not approved. Instead, the people of Stubal voted for the monastery to celebrate the name of the saint who is associated with Friday - Sveta Petka, which they celebrate on October 27.
For some time, Stubal was a male monastery, and its first monk and the elder was the builder Stojan (religious name Sava). In 1988, Stubal became a nunnery.
Significance of the monastery Stubal
From the very beginning, nothing about this monastery was accidental. From its construction until today, Stubal has developed as a real spiritual and cultural treasure. Built practically only by strong will and on firm faith, Stubal is a product of human harmony and hard work. As such, it develops over the years with the dedication of the locals, which they are very proud of.
