Jadar Museum - the most important information
This cultural institution was opened in 1987 and is located in the "Old Pharmacy" building in Loznica. Exhibits from the municipalities of Krupanj, Ljubovija and Mali Zvornik, besides Loznica, are part of the permanent exhibition. In addition to exhibitions, visitors can enjoy themed programs, special exhibitions and events that mark important historical dates and events.
History of the Jadar Museum
The museological works were entrusted to the workers of the History Museum of Serbia, which provided permanent exhibition pieces. The association for culture of the municipality of Loznica has launched an initiative to form a founding board of the museum. The opening of the museum on September 14, 1987 marked the 2nd century since the birth of Vuk Karadzic.
Experts from the Jadar Museum and the History Museum of Serbia collected exhibits and filled the museum's fund. The office for religious education with the library was opened within the museum in 2002 and today has 980 members. Since 2013, a pedagogical department has been established, which cooperates with numerous pedagogical organizations and associations and very successfully organizes lectures, forums and classes of active teaching.
Significance of the Jadar Museum
Jadar Museum was established with the aim of preserving the past of Jadar from oblivion and presenting it to new generations through collected historical objects, folk creations and customs. The building of the "Old Pharmacy" in which the Museum is located was declared a cultural asset and as such represents a specific example of city architecture, the one-storey building was built for business and residential purposes and the ground floor housed the first pharmacy in Loznica

The museum exhibit consists of objects from all spheres of life and work that are typical for people from this part of Serbia. The exhibits date from prehistory to the 50s of the last century and are divided into collections:
- Archaeological: 171 items
- Historical: 516 subjects
- Ethnological: 410 subjects
- Numismatic: 195 items
- Order collection: 39 items
- Collection of art
- Collection of documents and photographs
Since 2017, a part of the permanent exhibition is the Monoxyl taken out of the Danube in the area of the village of Jelav, which is considered to have been created in the period between 1694 and 1914.
At the annual level, 10 exhibitions are organized, which last on average 10-12 days.

How to get to the Jadar Museum?
The building of the "Old Pharmacy" in which the museum is situated is located in the narrow center of Loznica, so it is only 250 meters away from the central square. In addition to walking, you can use your own vehicle or taxi service to get to the museum.
