Local Museum - the most important information
In November 2012, the centenary of the liberation of Nova Varos and its surroundings from the Turkish authorities was marked, and on that occasion, the Local Museum was ceremoniously opened. This museum is a department of the National Museum of Uzice and shares the building with the Nova Varos Library. It is located not far from the city center and through its funds significantly improves the cultural and historical offer of the city. History of the Local Museum
The building in which the museum is located has existed since 1909, when it was built for the needs of the Sjenica district administration. At that time, it was home to various Turkish institutions, such as the court, the public prosecutor's office and the tax administration. It is a combination of modern and traditional, Islamic and European architectural styles that are blended in a harmonious way. The museum fund consists of 240 original exhibits and 3 replicas, which it presents through several exhibitions during the year. The permanent museum exhibition deals with all spheres of life in this part of Serbia, the life and work of Duke Petar Bojovic and the Raskovic dynasty.
