The monastery of the Milesevo ​​Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church was founded in 2007. It is located on Vodena poljana, which is considered one of the most beautiful parts of Zlatar, at 1440 meters above sea level. It is only 2 km away from the mountain top of Golo brdo, and about 10 km from Nova Varos. It is surrounded by dense coniferous forests that skillfully hides it, and a walk to it is enriched by enchanting nature. History of the monastery of Saints Kozma and Damjan
The best builders of this area worked on the construction of the monastery, and it was conceived as a place of worship. It is completely built of wood and is architecturally modeled on the churches of the Raska School of Architecture. The biggest help in the construction was provided by the company “Srbijasume”, which donated land and materials. The bell that is in the church is a gift from Professor Dr. Mirko Vasiljevic. Within the monastery complex is a konak where all visitors will be hosted. It was consecrated in 2007. Tourists from all over the world, artists and clergymen gladly visit this monastery which was built with the idea of being their place for peace and healing.

How to get to the monastery of Saints Kozma and Damjan?

From Nova Varos, the monastery can be reached by driving in less than 20 minutes, following the E763 highway. From the nearest place that can be reached by car, it is necessary to walk for a short time, and the path is extremely pleasant.
  • By car: From Nova Varos, follow Solunskih boraca Street, which will take you to the connection to the E763 highway. Take the highway past the Branosevac stadium and further towards the Zlatar mountain, the town of Drmanovici and the Vodena poljana forest house, from where the monastery is only a few minutes away.

To enter the church it is necessary to follow a specific dress code that includes covered shoulders and no short pants, skirts or dresses.
