History of Skender-pasha mosque
The history of this mosque begins at the end of the 19th century, when its construction began, which took place in the period from 1887 to 1894. It was built on the foundations of a mosque built by Pervan-beg during the 16th century. Its construction was helped by the contributions of the citizens and the generous donation of Mehmed-pasha Bajrovic. With this donation, he earned a cast plate that was raised above the front door. The mosque covers an area of almost 18x14 meters and is built of crushed stone. It contained a wooden minaret until the Second World War, which was replaced by a minaret made of carved stone. Within its complex, it has a gasulhana, a fountain, a cemetery and a gallery.
