Belgrade City Museum - general information

The Belgrade City Museum was founded in 1903, by a decision signed by Kosta Glavinic. In December 2006, the museum was awarded the building of the New Military Academy. Since 2015, the museum has become a venue for concerts called Concert Vaults of Belgrade.

About the Belgrade City Museum
The Belgrade City Museum does not have a permanent exhibition space for exhibition, so the building of the New Military Academy is used for that purpose. Since its founding in 1903, numerous legacies of famous artists and scientists of Serbia have been donated or given to the museum for management. The collected museum objects are categorized into three main departments: archeological, historical and artistic. The museum also has a Department of Conservation and Restoration and a Documentation Center.

What to see
The museum consists of several units and each of them deserves special attention of visitors. In addition to legacies and historically significant objects, there are also parts dedicated to famous personalities of Serbia:
  • Ivo Andric Museum (memorial museum where the writer lived with his wife, opened in 1976)
  • Residence of Princess Ljubica (belongs to a small number of preserved buildings from the reign of Prince Milos Obrenovic)
  • Museum of the spa camp (dedicated to the memory of the detainees of the Nazi concentration camp from the Second World War)
  • New museum building (destined for the accommodation of the Belgrade City Museum)
Museum visiting hours and ticket prices
The working hours of the museum are every working day from 5pm to 9pm and on weekends from 1pm to 9pm. The ticket price is 200 RSD with a 50% discount for pupils, students and seniors.
