Museum of African Art - basic information
In Belgrade, on Senjak, there is a unique museum in the Balkans, a museum that is completely dedicated to aftic culture and history. The museum was founded by Veda and Dr. Zdravko Pecar, who collected materials during their time on the African continent.
Origin and history of the Museum of African Art
On the idea of Veda Zagorac, economist, writer and wife of Dr. Zdravko Pecar, the collection of exhibits that will be in the museum has begun. Considering that they spent over twenty years in Africa, partly due to Zdravko's ambassadorial work, they had time to get to the material that is exhibited today in the Museum of African Art. The Assembly of the City of Belgrade then ceded the studio space at 14 Andre Nikolića Street for the needs of the museum. The space was finished and adjusted to the needs of the museum, so it was officially opened in 1977.
