The museum dedicated to the diligent hands of women from Zlatibor is located in Sirogojno and is widely known for its exhibits. This museum is anything but ordinary because it shows the work of knitters whose knitted pieces of clothing have reached the top of the fashion industry.
History of the museum
The museum was opened in 2008 as part of the knitters from Zlatibor, and since then it has served as an exhibition space for their unique works with wool. The group of women who started nurturing traditional clothing at the beginning had only twenty participants, but quickly that number increased to almost 2000. The first exhibition of their handicrafts opened in 1962, and since then the popularity of these unique products has been growing.

Their creativity and dedication soon attracted the attention of fashion lovers and designers, so knitted sweaters, jackets, scarves, and outfits soon began to be worn by models at fashion shows around the world, from European countries to Japan. The most valuable thing that the museum preserves and develops is the tradition of knitting and weaving, which has shown that it can match the most modern trends. The Museum of Knitters is located in Sirogojno, and you can reach it from several directions.
- By car
- From the direction of Zlatibor: from Zlatibor through Rudina, Sirogojno can be reached in about 30 minutes.
- From the direction of Uzice: via the road that leads through Rozanstvo and next to Stopica cave. The museum is about a 40-minute drive away.
