Stable history
The Austro-Hungarian monarchy began the formation of the Karadjordjevo stud farm in 1885, when the beginning of horse breeding in these parts was marked. This place was most suitable due to its favorable geographical position, proximity to the Danube and salt marsh soil, favorable for the proper formation of horse hooves. Initially, this stud farm was an institution for breeding foals, which was brought primarily from the Hungarian stud farm Medjohdjes. The foal was raised here for a year, only to be returned to Hungary, where it served military purposes. Karadjordjevo Stud Farm was known for breeding horses of the vernier breed, which before the appearance of agricultural machines were used for agricultural work, and later for the needs of the army, as freight and draft horses. The stud farm became the property of the state of Serbia in 1921 and since then it has been called today - Karađorđevo Stud Farm.

Tourist potential of the stud farm
Karađorđevo Stud Farm is one of the most important tourist attractions in Bačka Palanka. Here you can enjoy horseback riding, carriage rides through the magical nature of the Karađorđevo Special Nature Reserve or a tour of the Stable Museum. Equestrian races are traditionally held at the hippodrome. That is why the management of the Karadjordjevo Stud Farm strives, in addition to the Serbian Army Cup and the May Day carriage ride, to establish up to 2 events a month, which would completely revive the stud farm itself and this whole magical space. The Danube cycling route also passes through the Karađorđevo stud farm, where you can cycle for several hours through the Karađorđevo Special Nature Reserve. In addition, this place is a real paradise for all hunting lovers, so here you will have at your disposal carriages, sledges, boats, off-road vehicles and all the equipment you need for a successful and unforgettable hunt.
