History of the National Theater Sombor
The building of the National Theater was erected in 1882, according to the project of Adolf White. This building was built on the initiative of the Joint Stock Company of the Sombor Theater, formed in 1877. It is located in the old town and with its harmonious lines in the classicist spirit it is one of the most representative theaters in Vojvodina. The extension, reconstruction and adaptation of the National Theater was carried out in the late 1970s. Then, by adding another wing, the object got a symmetrical look, in accordance with the spirit of the time in which it was created. The permanent professional theater has been operating since 1946, and grew into the National Theater in 1952.

The façade of the building of the National Theater with a monumental façade and 2 wings is accentuated by a porch on the ground floor with a balcony on the first floor and a classicist pediment with Tuscan and Ionic pilasters.
