Why rent log cabins?

Renting a log cabin in Serbia can be a great way to escape from everyday life and enjoy nature. These are the reasons why log cabins are an increasingly popular choice:
  • Authenticity – Log cabins offer tourists their specific charm, wooden construction creates a pleasant, warm atmosphere, and everything is in the spirit of tradition.
  • Comfort – Log cabins often offer simple but comfortable accommodations. Many are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay (kitchen, bathroom, heating), but retain a rustic atmosphere, which makes the stay even more pleasant.
  • Availability and price – Renting a log cabin in Serbia is cheaper than staying in a hotel, providing a higher level of privacy and comfort. It is a great option for those who want to enjoy nature without spending too much.
  • Family or group vacation – Because of their spaciousness and isolation, log cabins offer privacy, peace, and comfort, making them an ideal choice for family outings or holidays with friends.
  • The opportunity to explore local culture – Log cabins are often located in somewhat more rural parts of the country where customs and traditions are still alive and very active. Thus, a stay in these regions allows you to explore and get to know local customs, cuisine, and history, as well as friendly hosts.
  • Ideal for romantic vacations – Thanks to the isolation, and peaceful atmosphere, log cabins are the perfect choice for romantic vacations for couples.
  • Environmentally friendly options – Log cabins often use natural materials for construction and use energy that is acceptable and meets all environmental standards, which can attract tourists who are concerned about ecology and the harmful effects on their health and the environment.

Types of log cabins for rent in Serbia

With the increase in popularity of log cabins as tourist accommodation, different types of these houses appeared as well. Each type offers a completely different experience to visitors. These are the types of log cabins you can rent in Serbia and their characteristics:
  • Luxury log cabins – There are more and more luxury log cabins in Serbia, and this type of log cabin aims to offer its visitors diverse and rich content, along with all the usual benefits of a log cabin. Thus, the interior of the luxury log cabin includes modern kitchens, bathrooms with luxurious contents, spacious living rooms with fireplace systems, and the latest generation technology. In addition, luxury log cabins often have additional facilities such as ovens, grills, saunas, gyms, jacuzzis, or spa centers.
  • Ecological log cabins – Ecological log cabins aim to reduce the ecological footprint and CO2 emissions, as they do not use synthetic or industrial products. They often use renewable energy sources (such as solar panels), environmentally friendly materials, and energy-efficient systems. In addition to all this, ecological log cabins often use the principles of passive construction, such as directing the windows to the south for maximum use of solar energy.
  • Tiny Houses – Small log houses, whose area is usually up to 40m², are mainly intended for 2-3 people. These log cabins often combine a minimalist design, with multifunctional pieces of furniture, with smart use of space and with all the necessary contents. Small log cabins are ideal for a short stay.
  • A-frame log cabins – A-frame log cabins are a specific type of log cabin characterized by their distinctive "A" roof shape. These log cabins have a very simple and functional structure, which allows them to stand out in mountain and natural environments. Due to the characteristics of the roof, which allows the snow to melt and fall easily, these log cabins are the most popular in the mountains. Although they are often compact in design, high roofs create a feeling of spaciousness and comfort in the interior of these log cabins.
  • Log cabins with panoramic windows – Log cabins with panoramic windows use large glass surfaces, which can be from floor to ceiling. These windows often take up an entire wall or part of a wall, allowing a wide view of the outside landscape allowing guests to enjoy spectacular views of nature or the surrounding area. They are ideal for landscape lovers. These log cabins are often positioned in places that offer a beautiful view of nature, rivers, and the surrounding area.

Prices of log cabins

Mountain chalets in Serbia are offered at prices from €35 per night up to €250-300 on our most popular mountains, Zlatibor and Kopaonik.
Log cabins are slightly more expensive than apartments because they are accommodations made entirely of natural materials, with maximum respect for ecological standards.
Log cabins whose price is around €40-50 are mostly log cabins with a smaller capacity, which can accommodate two people, a maximum of four people. Such log cabins are AA Pine in Nova Varoš, Zlatiborka 1 on Zlatibor, Šumska Vila on Tara, Brvnara ispod Čigote on Zlatibor, as well as Log Cabin Una na Tari.
Log cabins for rent that accommodate six or more people can generally be rented from €70 to €250 per night. Such log cabins are Dream House on Zlatibor, Brvnara Čarolija in Gunjaci, log cabin Stanković on Stara planina, log cabin Pavle on Zlatibor.
Log cabin owners often offer their guests discounts for longer stays, so for stays of seven or more days the price can be 10 to 20% cheaper.
It should be emphasized that the prices of log cabins can vary depending on the number of guests, so the price will not be the same when four or ten people stay in it.
Prices of log cabins in the New Year period
Log cabins are very popular during New Year's Eve, so booking them should be done three to four months in advance, especially when it comes to the most popular mountains in our country. In addition, log cabin prices in this period are up to 200% more expensive than usual.
Also, during the New Year, it is generally not possible to rent mountain log cabins only for one night, but it usually has to be for a period of at least three nights.

Best places for renting log cabins in Serbia

Log cabins in Serbia are mostly associated with the mountains, and for good reason, because the largest number of log cabins for rent can be found in the mountains, however, in addition to the mountains, log cabins are also available near rivers and lakes.
Log cabins in the mountains
We can find log cabins for rent in all our mountains. The largest number is found in the mountains that belong to the region of western Serbia, namely Tara, Zlatibor, Zlatar, and then on Kopaonik, Stara Planina, and Divčibari. Zlatibor is one of the most urbanized mountains in our country, so the log cabins on this mountain can be found outside the center and around the edges of the mountain.
Log cabins by rivers and lakes
In addition to the mountains, a certain number of log cabins can also be found by rivers and lakes. As log cabins are a typical accommodation for the region of western Serbia, we can find them mostly right next to the Drina, as well as near the Perućačko Lake. A slightly smaller number of log cabins are located next to Srebrno Jezero (Silver Lake) , as well as next to Gruža Lake.

Best time of year to rent a log cabin?

Mountain log cabins in Serbia are still the most popular during the winter, but an increasing number of tourists choose to spend the summer in this type of accommodation. Essentially the best period to rent a log cabin depends on what you are looking for from your holiday:
  • Winter – Winter in log cabins is so ideal for all lovers of winter sports, but also for those who would like to spend a slightly quieter vacation, since a large number of log cabins are located on the edges of the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle. The downside of staying in log cabins during the winter is the slightly higher prices. Also, if you plan to stay in Zlatibor and Kopaonik, near the ski slopes, be prepared for a large number of people and crowds.
  • Summer – Natural materials, wood, and stone, from which log cabins are mostly made, represent excellent natural insulation, so staying in mountain log cabins is a great choice when you want to take shelter from high summer temperatures. In addition, mountains such as Zlatibor and Kopaonik offer numerous opportunities for lovers of active tourism, as well as attractions for children.
  • Autumn and spring – They can be an excellent time of the year for a quiet holiday in nature. This is the period when there are not so many crowds, accommodation is easy to find and prices are lower than during the winter months.

Additional benefits when renting a log cabin

In addition to the basic amenities provided by any private accommodation, log cabins also offer additional amenities that can make your stay even more pleasant. Below we look at those additional benefits that can be key to the complete experience of enjoying the log cabins:
  • Active tourism – Depending on the location, chalets often offer access to a variety of outdoor activities. Bicycles, ski equipment, quad bikes, and the like can be available within the accommodation itself.
  • Lower prices for long-term stays – One of the most significant benefits, that distinguishes private accommodation, including log cabins, from hotel accommodation, is a discount for longer stays. Depending on the period of stay, prices can be up to 50% lower than hotel rooms.
  • Additional facilities – Although they are there, first of all, as an authentic type of accommodation that enables an escape from technology and a connection with nature, chalets are technologically excellently equipped, and more and more often luxurious facilities such as jacuzzis, saunas or other spa/wellness facilities are found in them. During the summer months, barbecuing is one of the most popular family and group activities, so log cabin owners often provide their guests with barbecue utensils and equipment.
  • Pet-friendly accommodation – A large number of log cabins are available for staying with pets.
  • Benefits for families – Family benefits are primarily reduced prices for children or even free stays, and in some cases, they provide their guests with baby cots for free. Log cabins are more spacious than hotel rooms and apartments, which makes them even more suitable for family stays.
