  • By car - Pancevo is located on the international road E-70, which leads from Belgrade to the city, as well as the road E-75, which will take you from Novi Sad. History of Pancevo

  • Early history - The city lies on a dense network of remnants of ancient necropolises, dating back to the Neolithic period, 5500 BC. Pancevo was first mentioned as a separate city in the 9th century, under the names Panuka, Panucsa, Panoca and Panzova. From the 16th to the 18th century, the city belonged to the Turks, and in 1794 it was liberated and turned into a free town. At the beginning of the 19th century, the city received its first urban development and became a real city community. Then the first institutions were built, trade and crafts were strengthened, and churches were created: Orthodox, Catholic, Jewish.
  • Recent History - At the end of the First World War, Vojvodina was annexed to Serbia, and then Pancevo became an official part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Another important moment for the city is the expulsion of the occupiers and the end of the Second World War, after which there is an accelerated development of industry and a large influx of population to Pancevo. That period was crucial for turning Pancevo into one of the largest industrial centers not only in Vojvodina but in the whole of Serbia.
