Characteristics of the mountain
Bukulja is the name of a mountain in Šumadija, at the foot of which are the town of Arandjelovac and Bukovicka Banja. The highest peak of this mountain is 696 meters high. The presence of granite rocks, which contain a specific combination of minerals, proves that Bukulja is a mountain of volcanic origin. It is overgrown with beech, hornbeam and oak forests, and the name of the mountain comes from the diminutive of the Slavic word buk. A 19-meter-high observatory is open to all visitors at the top of Bukulja, which offers a divine view of a large part of Šumadija.

The significance of the mountain
Mount Bukulja is suitable for the preparation of sports teams, since it has marked hiking trails, which lead from the park of Bukovicka Banja to the top of the mountain. This mountain protects the town of Arandjelovac from strong winds. There is a hydrometeorological station on its top, while Garaško Lake is on its edges. Bukulja Mountain is a favorite picnic spot of the inhabitants of the town of Arandjelovac and surrounding places, as well as spa guests. It has several restaurants - Hunting Lodge, Kacara and Kod Coke, where you can stop and relax after a long walk on the mountain. The hiking trail is 25 kilometers long and can be crossed in 8 hours and 20 minutes of walking. It starts at the entrance to the Colorful Gate in the spa park and leads to the Hotel Izvor, further along Bukulja, near the city museum to the top of the mountain. You can see another interesting thing on the mountain Bukulja - there is a source of carbonated mineral water Knjaz Milos.

How to get to Bukulja?
  • If you start from Belgrade, you will reach Bukulja in an hour and 15 minutes by car (highway A1 / E75 and Route 25).
  • From Novi Sad you can reach Bukulja by car in 2 hours and 20 minutes (by highway A1 / E75).
