Excursion site Vrelo is about thirty kilometers away from Pirot. It is located at an altitude of 730 meters, in an environment dominated by 2 rivers - Jelovicka and Dojkinacka. This place has been a traditional picnic spot for the people of Pirovac and the surrounding area for many years. Characteristics of the resort Vrelo
This popular resort is named after a nearby spring. This is Jelovicko vrelo, which with its basin is located north of Pirot, towards the border with Bulgaria. The basin of this spring was built mostly of Mesozoic carbonate rocks, namely the Middle Triassic. The Vrelo picnic area is surrounded by a complex of cottages and a workers' resort. This resort is an ideal place for walking, vacation, recreation, cycling, but also hunting and fishing. Lately, intensive work has been done on arranging this part of the Stara Planina. In addition to the picnic area, here you will find a point of sale for fresh trout in the Vrelo Pond, the newly built Visitor Center of the Stara Planina, as well as the restaurant of traditional cuisine Konaci Vrelo, which you should definitely visit. When you try some of the most famous dishes of traditional Serbian cuisine, you will be able to fully enjoy this resort.

How to get to the resort?
- If you start by car from Belgrade, you can reach the Vrelo picnic area in 4 hours (highway A1 / E75).
- From the center of Pirot to the picnic area you will travel for about an hour by car (via Route 221).
- You can also reach Pirot by bus. From Belgrade to this city there is a daily transport company Presto (organizes 3 departures). The price of a one-way ticket is 2000 dinars, while the price of a return ticket is 3000 dinars.
- A much larger number of departures is organized from Nis to Pirot. A one-way ticket costs 500 dinars, while a return ticket costs 800 dinars. The approximate travel time on this route is 90 minutes.
