Church of St. George - Basic Information
In the center of Kladovo there is an Orthodox church, dedicated to St. George. It is part of the Diocese of the Timok Serbian Orthodox Church, and is the only church in Kladovo. In this small but important settlement, the church of St. George rises near the promenade, surrounded by greenery.
History of the Church of St. George
Around 1735, there was a small Orthodox church, which testified to the Orthodox life in this area. Unfortunately, its remains have not been preserved, but it is known that it was located in the immediate vicinity of the newly built church, which was built between 1856 and 1862. The oldest icons in it date from the 18th century. During the First World War, the church was significantly damaged, and a large part of the church books were burned. Then, during the Second World War, the temple was desecrated, and part of the church plot was taken away. Despite all attempts to demolish it, the church survived, and the last reconstructions were done in 2012.

Today, the church organizes religious education for children and adults.

- By car: from Belgrade you can take route 34, via Pozarevac, Golubac, Donji Milanovac and Tekija
