The Greeting to the Sun - Most important information
The Greeting to the Sun in Zadar represents an exceptional architectural achievement in the city, and it is an installation by architect Nikola Bašić. It is located on the western part of the Zadar waterfront, not far from the famous Sea Organ. From this point, there is an enchanting view of the islands of Zadar, the Zadar channel, and the sunset, for which this city and this location are widely known.
Characteristics of the Greeting to the Sun
Thanks to the architect Nikola Bašić, The Greeting to the Sun is today a real architectural achievement and the most attractive location in Zadar, next to the Sea Organ. It comprises 300 solar panels, i.e., glass plates, placed in a circle.
- The idea of The Greeting to the Sun is to produce a play of light and create human communication with nature: The circle in which this phenomenon is described has a diameter of 22 meters. During the day, these panels absorb the sunlight, while in the evening, the lighting elements built into the circle turn on, producing a spectacular play of light. The idea is that such a spectacle symbolizes the connection of man with nature, with the help of light - as is the case with the sound of the Sea Organ.
- Greeting to the Sun has become a smaller power station: To produce a play of light at the end of the day, solar modules absorb sunlight during the day, converting it into electricity. Expectations are that this project will produce around 46,500 kWh annually, making it a smaller power plant.
Significance of The Greeting to the Sun

These two modern interventions managed to bring Zadar to the front pages of all the world's media. Thanks to that, Zadar managed to get a new gathering place and an attractive tourist location.
