The theater in Sabac testifies to the long theater tradition of this city. It represents a city institution that is very important for the culture and art of both Sabac and its surroundings.
History of the theatre
The building of today's theater was primarily Zanatski Dom (Crafts House), built in 1933. In 1906, the first professional theater was founded here, with 20 actors and two directors. However, the first play in this city - Stanislav and Mileva - was performed much earlier, in 1840. Since 2008, the theater has been divided into three stages:
- Big stage "Ljubisa Jovanovic"
- Small stage "Dr Branivoj Djordjevic"
- Children's scene
Significance of the theater
Sabac is considered a city with a very long acting tradition, and its theater is one of the most fruitful. In just six months since its founding, 90 plays have been performed at the theatre, which has been incredibly well attended.

The working hours of the theater depending on the performances and the stages on which they play.
- On the evening stage: from 8 p.m.
- On the children's stage: from noon or 6 p.m.
How to get to the theater
This theater is located in the center of Sabac, near the town square. You can reach it in several ways.
- By car: via street Ulica Kneza Milosa you can reach the promenade of Karadjordjeva Ulica, where the theater is located.
- By taxi: Taxi Dimitrijevic Sasa 015 / 336-211; Taxi Blagojevic Milan 015 / 323-341;
- On foot: you can also reach this street on foot, and vehicles are certainly not allowed on the promenade of the street Karadjordjeva Ulica.
Additional information
In the second half of the 20th century, the Sabac Theater hosted the event "Svecanosti Ljubise Jovanovica" when it was visited by the most prominent people from the world of acting. The "Pozorisno Prolece (Theater Spring)" festival is also organized here.
