History of the Museum of Republika Srpska
The Museum of the Republika Srpska was founded on September 26, 1930 under the name Museum of the Vrbas Banovina. The first academic manager of the Museum is the then academic painter Spiridon Spiro Bocaric, who collected a large number of ethnographic objects of great value during his work. The current name of this museum dates back to 1992. Since 2006, the Museum of the Republic of Srpska has been participating in the organization of the "Museum Night" event, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the French Republic. This event is held every year in May and is attractive to both locals and visitors from abroad.
Museum funds and collections
The rich fund of the Museum of Republika Srpska contains over 100,000 items, while the library fund has over 14,000 books. The multimedia exhibition Jasenovac is one of the most important permanent exhibitions of this museum. In addition to permanent exhibitions, it also hosts author's, thematic and guest exhibitions. Of particular interest is the collection of objects from the island of Fiji in Melanesia, which you can find here. It contains various indigenous items such as: maces, shields, bows, oars and jewelry of the time.

Working hours of the Museum of the Republic of Serbia and ticket prices
- The Museum of Republika Srpska is open every day for all visitors from 8 am to 8 pm.
- The price of the ticket for adults is 3 convertible marks, while for children (up to 18 years), students and pensioners the entrance fee is only 1 mark.
- Free admission is available for children under 2 and people with disabilities.
