Nenadovic Tower - the most important information

This cultural monument of great importance is located, only half a kilometer from the center of Valjevo on the hill Klicevac. The symbol of Valjevo, erected by Duke Jakov Nenadovic and his son Jevrem. It was built of the stone destroyed tower of Vitkovic.

History of the Nenadovic Tower
It was built in 1813, when the Turks used it as a dungeon in which Serbian slaves were captured. It was renovated in 1836, and then it was used to store gunpowder, until the end of the 19th century. It was primarily used for military purposes. Two years later, it was demolished by Simo Nenadovic, after Valjevo was liberated on May 28, 1815. The Nenadovic family left a great mark in Serbian history, and it is believed that Aleksa Nenadovic would have been the leader of the First Serbian Uprising, had he not been killed by the Turks, in the slaughter of princes.

What must you see in Nenadovic's tower?
It has been open to visitors since March 20, 2012, after it was reconstructed and safe to visit. Memorial plaques can be seen on the walls, which are proof of the construction itself. Today it is under state protection, as a cultural and historical monument. As a museum, it has been open to visitors since March 20, 2012. Working time
