Tubica pecina - the most important information

In the village of Tubici, 5 km from Sjenica, there is a cave in the form of a spacious canal through which the Maljevinski stream flows. On the left side of the valley of the river Uvac, you can approach the cave entrance from where this Maljevinski stream springs. The second entrance is at a slightly higher height, and through it, the stream sinks into the cave Tubica pecina.

Characteristics of the cave Tubića pećina
The natural channel created in this way changes the water flow that has been shaping its interior for many years. It belongs among the delicate limestone castles which, without big surprises, receive both visitors and speleological experts. The total length of the cave of this shape is 1,929 meters, and the length of the main channel is 798 meters.

Since it is hydrologically active, a walk through its canal is a real refreshment. However, it should be visited at the right time, because it is dry for most of the year. In periods when its hydrological activity is intensified, a lake is formed in the hollow, while the upper channel remains dry throughout the year.

What to see
Due to the constant water activity, the cave has been decorating itself for years, so in its halls and canals you can see:
  • Limestone terraces - in large numbers adorn the interior of the cave, reminiscent of a court garden
  • Stalactites - an abundance of them can be seen, but mostly smaller forms
  • Stalagmites, flowstones, draperies - cave jewelry that discreetly fills this space in a slightly smaller number
  • Ponds that occur during periods of higher hydrological activity
In addition, the cave Tubica pecina is always full of surprises due to the change in water level. When the dam was built and the artificial Sjenica Lake was formed, its changes became even more noticeable.

Ticket price
The special nature reserve "Uvac" organizes tours of the entire area. Each tour is guided by one of the tour organizers, a ranger, and often one of the speleological experts.
  • Ticket price to the "Uvac" reserve: 100 dinars for people older than 18, or 50 dinars for young people aged 8 to 18.
