Monument to Knez Lazar - the most important information

The monument to Knez Lazar is located in the archeological park "Lazarev grad", more precisely in its eastern part, not far from the church of Lazarica, which was built for the birth of his first son. This monument was made by a sculptor from Belgrade, Nebojsa Mitric, and it was unveiled on June 27, 1971, on the day of the celebration of "Six Centuries of Krusevac".

Characteristics of the monument
The figure of Knez Lazar is in a sitting position with a sword over his wing because the sculptor was inspired by how Serbian rulers from the Middle Ages were represented on their coins, and the figure of the knez himself is modeled on a fresco from the Ravanica monastery which is his endowment. The details on the figure itself symbolize its architectural affinities: the contours of the medieval city on its left shoulder and the outlines of the church of Lazarica under the armpit of the right arm, and the ornaments that can be seen on the dress are the same from the copy of Knez Lazar's dress from the Krusevac National Museum.

How to get to the monument
You can see the monument if you visit "Lazarev grad", and it can be reached by buses 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 19. The name of the stop is Velika cesma. You can also use a taxi - we recommend Next taxi 037/434343, but you can also reach it on foot.

Additional information
