Belgrade Drama Theater - the most important information

The Belgrade Drama Theater was the first theater founded after the Second World War, in 1947. The first play that was performed on the boards of this theater is The Youth of the Fathers, by Boris Gorbatov, a year after the theater was founded. Today, this theater is one of the greatest prides of the capital.

History and features of the Belgrade Drama Theater
The theater is located in a building on the Red Cross and had its golden period in the early 1950s, thanks to the successful performances of American writers and the excellent talent of actors, directors, set designers and costume designers who celebrated the BDT scene. Today, this theater works with a permanent artistic ensemble, with which it continued to perform classical dramatic literature, which spread the word about the theater itself. In the spring of 2003, the theater finally received the long-awaited transformation when a thorough reconstruction was carried out, in accordance with the highest European standards.

BDT, in addition to performances of classical works, gives authors the opportunity to express their abilities and thus a rich repertoire in the most creative way. The increased number of productions and frequent guest appearances enable the stage performances of new plays to be widely available to the audience. From the creation of the BDT until today, there were times when one or two plays a day were performed on the stages of the theater. Today, the performances are performed on two stages, seven days a week, and the ensembles regularly visit Serbia and abroad.

Working hours and ticket prices
The plays are played in the evening, from 7pm or 7:30pm. Ticket prices range, depending on the show, from 1000 to 1,500 RSD.

Repertoire of the Belgrade Drama Theater
The BDT repertoire is diverse and plays are performed daily on the Small and Large Theater Stages. The repertoire is compiled and regularly updated, on a monthly basis and is on the official website of the Belgrade Drama Theater.
