Viminacium - the most important information
You have probably heard of Viminacium, a famous archeological park near Pozarevac. Within the park there is a tavern where you can eat or drink during a visit to the site. Viminacium Archaeological Park has 7 buildings open to all visitors:
- North Main Gate of the Legionary Camp (Porta praetoria)
- Roman baths
- Roman amphitheater
- The mausoleum in which the Roman emperor Hostilian is buried
- Mammoth Park
- Domvs Scientiarvm Viminacium / Scientific Research and Tourism Center and
- Craft center with kilns for the production of ceramics and bricks.
Numerous ceremonies and concerts were held at this place, as well as thematic and professional exhibitions.
How to get to Viminacium?
- If you drive from Belgrade, you will travel to this place for an hour and 40 minutes (by highway A1 / E75).
- From Smederevo you can reach Viminacium in about 50 minutes via Route 33, while from Pozarevac you can reach this popular tourist place in less than half an hour (via Route 159).
Opening hours and ticket prices
The Viminacium Archaeological Park is open all year round, every day except January 1 (from 9 am to 6 pm). The entrance fee for adults costs 600 dinars, while the price for children older than 10 years and pensioners is 400 dinars. Children who come accompanied by their parents, and are less than 10 years old, can enter this locality completely free of charge.
