Ždrelo Homeland Museum - the most important information

Welcome to the Homeland Museum Petrovac na Mlavi! It is a museum of a complex type, which consists of: archaeological, art, ethnographic, historical and numismatic collection. Stay with us and learn more about the history of this museum and the ways you can get to it.

History of the museum
The Petrovac na Mlavi Homeland Museum was founded in 1998/99. years. Many years of excavations at the Belovode site, near Veliki Laol, had a decisive influence on the formation of this museum. The research was started in 1994 by the National Museum from Belgrade and the National Museum from Požarevac, within the scientific research project "Archaeometallurgy of the Vinča Culture". In 2003, the Homeland Museum received a part of the space on the high ground floor of the representative building of the "Old Post Office", which is located in the center of the city. During his work, the following archeological, ethnological, historical, artistic and numismatic collections were formed. All collections are smaller in size, but they are constantly increasing thanks to the archeological excavations of the Belovode site.

How to get to the Museum?
  • If you travel by car from Belgrade, you can reach this museum in an hour and a half (by highway A1 / E75).
  • From Ždrelo to this place you will travel about 15 minutes (via Route 161). As the distance is not great, we advise you to call a taxi service and arrive safely at the desired place. There are: taxi service offered by Accommodation Novaković (060 0330 647) or Homolje auto-taxi transport (062 334 776). The price of transportation is 60 dinars per kilometer traveled, regardless of the number of passengers.
Additional information
A museum library has also been established within the Ždrelo Homeland Museum. The Museum Gallery was opened in 2003. Since then, an average of ten exhibitions a year have been organized at this place, among which the most represented are exhibitions of fine and applied arts. In addition, the Ždrelo Homeland Museum organized a mini ethno-film festival and an evening of archeological film on two occasions.

Museum opening hours
The Ždrelo Homeland Museum is open on weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm, while on Saturdays you can visit it from 10 am to 2 pm.
