City beach Strand - the most important information
Strand has maintained the status of a favorite place of Novi Sad residents to this day. Swimming and sunbathing are, of course, always in the center of attention, but Strand has a lot more to offer. The bathing season on the Strand lasts from May 1 to September 30. The beach is spread over 700 meters and is very well equipped with all the necessary infrastructure necessary for a comfortable holiday on the beach. Cabins, showers, restaurants and numerous sports fields adorn the coast of Strand.
History of Strand
The most popular city palace for all interested visitors and bathers was officially opened in 1911. Over time, the beach developed and tourism flourished on it. Today, the Strand stretches over 700 m and is the perfect place to escape the summer heat. The beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Danube. In just one century, Strand has survived many things and witnessed many significant events. Soldiers and officers first came to bathe at the beginning of the 20th century. The beach began to be arranged more during the First World War and soon became an increasingly popular place. The story of the beach begins long before it can be assumed, at the very beginning of the 20th century. And then the center of all events in Novi Sad would move to the beach as soon as the unbearable lentil heat began.
The most beautiful places on the Strand
Sports fans have at their disposal two basketball, three volleyball and mini golf courses, as well as an alpine rock. There are also children's playgrounds, tucked away in the deep shade among the pleasant greenery. In order for the summer season on Strand to pass in the best order, the safety in the water and on the beach is taken care of by excellently trained rescue and police services. The beach is known as a place where some of the most popular cultural and sports events in Novi Sad are held in the summer. The traditional annual beach volleyball tournament and daily parties during the EXIT International Music Festival are held on the city beach. There are also traditional head and basketball tennis tournaments, as well as a large number of concerts and programs for the youngest. Every year, for the 56th summer in a row, the participants of the Danube Regatta, the longest in the world, visit Strand.
