Establishment of the Djerdap National Park
Djerdap was declared a national park in 1974 in order to put the Djerdap Gorge and the natural area along it under protection. This area has exceptional cultural and historical values ​​and significant natural ecosystems - objects of native flora and fauna and well-preserved forests of natural composition. Here are plant species that are endemic to the entire Balkan Peninsula: bear hazel, Pančić maklen, zelenika, koprivić, medunac, lilac and many others. Also, the richness of the animal world is exceptional: wolf, deer, roe deer, bear, lynx, jackal, eagle, as well as numerous species of birds. In addition, the Djerdap National Park boasts new animal species: the long-eared bat, the gray down and the pigeon fly. This diversity makes it a real natural and scientific research center.

How to get to Djerdap National Park?
You can reach the largest Serbian national park from 3 directions:
  1. Djerdap highway from the direction of Belgrade
  2. Djerdap highway from the direction of Kladovo and
  3. from the direction of Nis, through Zajecar, Bor and Miloseva kula by regional route.
