Bishop's Table Cave - Basic Information
This cave is located in the gorge of the same name, on the slopes of Stara Planina. It was named after the appearance of one of the cave decorations. Namely, during a visit to the cave, speleologist Srdjan Tošić noticed a rock that is very reminiscent of a human head, moreover, the head of a bishop or a priest. Based on that, both the cave and the canyon got their name.
Characteristics of the cave of the Bishop's slab
The cave is located about 100 meters above the river Visocica and can only be reached on foot. The height of the entrance is 18, and the width is 12 meters, while the length of about 600 meters has been fully explored. However, another 700 meters of canal and a large hall were recently discovered, but further and more detailed research of the cave is still being done. Although it is not known how big the cave actually is and what is hidden in it, there are indications that prehistoric people lived in it, as well as the cave bear.
