Bitef Theater - the most important information

Bitef Theater was founded with the aim of spreading the idea of ​​BITEF outside the festival itself, throughout the year. It is an avant-garde theater located in the heart of Dorcol.

History of Bitef Theater
The Bitef Theater was founded in 1989 in the area of ​​a reconstructed evangelical church. A few months after its opening, Mira Trailovic, one of the people who founded the BITEF festival, died, and soon the space in front of the Bitef theater was named "Mira Trailovic Square". Over the years, the Bitef Theater has been a place where engaged plays were performed, plays that mixed genres, avant-garde plays.

The idea of ​​Bitef Theater
The theater was created in order to promote the idea of ​​the BITEF festival outside of its holding. It nurtures artistic freedom, socially engaged theater, the new, the avant-garde, the fresh, development of the stage for young people, examines theatrical means and their limits. Dramatic, dance, visual and musical stage practices are mixed. Bitef Theater is a place where all modern and avant-garde theaters from Serbia can be seen in Belgrade, and Bitef Theater productions are guesting throughout the country and the region.

Bitef dance company
It was founded in 2009 and is the first troupe of contemporary dance in Serbia to be linked to a single cultural institution. The company has realized dance productions that have performed in the country and the world. Also, the company has won numerous awards, both for choreographers and for dancers and performances as a whole.
