Atelier 212 - the most important information
Atelier 212 is an important cultural institution, a theater where famous actors from this area have played and are playing. Atelier 212 was founded by artists who wanted to create a theater in which avant-garde plays would be shown, unlike other theaters in Belgrade.
History of Atelier 212
The Atelier 212 Theater was founded on November 12, 1956, and the first manager was Rados Novakovic. At the beginning, the plays were performed in the "Borbe" hall, and when Bojan Stupica became the manager, he designed the building to which Atelier 212 was moved. Probably the most famous manager was Mira Trailovic, who was in that place for the longest time, and the play "Hair", which she directed, was played in the Atelier before many world theater centers. Also, the play "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett was performed for the first time in one of the countries of Eastern Europe in Atelier 212.
Atelier 212 Ensemble
The members of Atelier 212 were almost all the acting stars of the former Yugoslavia, such as Mira Banjac, Petar Kralj, Dragan Nikolic and Milena Dravic. Today, the permanent ensemble consists of 32 actors, and some of them are Anica Dobra, Nenad Jezdic, Branislav Trifunovic and Tamara Dragicevic. In front of the main entrance, there is a monument to Zoran Radmilovic in the costume of King Ubu, because he marked that role by playing in such a way that not every show was the same.
